US reported daily deaths at lowest at 271 (total 214,844)

The Johns Hopkins COVID-19 Dashboard for Monday, October 12, at 5:23 a.m.:

Worldwide cases:  37,606,333    Worldwide deaths:  1,078,097

U.S. cases: 7,768,629   U.S. deaths:  214,844

According to the Dashboard, the reported worldwide case report increased by 317,971 in the last 24 hours.  Deaths worldwide increased by 3,821.

According to the Johns Hopkins Dashboard, the United States has added 39,521 cases in the last 24 hours.  In that time,  the number of reported deaths from  COVID-19 increased by only 271.  That number is the lowest daily death count in months.

On the Big Island, the total case count is now 948, with around 205 active cases.  The State DOH “cases in last 28 days map” indicates there have been 152 cases in Kailua Kona zip 96740 in the last 28 days.

The largest outbreak on the island is from the University of the Nations (Kona) cluster, which now includes 52 known cases.  A total of 955 students, faculty, and family members have been tested.
