State adds 62 COVID cases–21 on the Big Island

As the State of Hawaii prepares to resume its tourist economy this Thursday with pre-travel testing so travelers can avoid the 14-day state quarantine, the State Department of Health says today there are 62 new cases of COVID-19 in the state.

That includes 30 on O’ahu, 21 on the Big Island, and 11 in Maui County.

The total for the state is now 13,514, with around 2,560 active cases.  The State is reporting 173 deaths.

Hawaii County, with today’s additional 21 cases, has 974 total cases and approximately 212 active cases.  The island has had 37 deaths, but only 15 of them are included in the State report so far.  The State Department of Health says it has to confirm all the deaths as COVID-19-related before including them in the report.
