U.S. COVID cases at highest daily rate increases

The Johns Hopkins COVID-19 Dashboard for Thursday, October 22, at 5:24 a.m.:

Worldwide cases: 41,372,930    Worldwide deaths:  1,133,356

U.S. cases: 8,347,982   U.S. deaths:  222,324

According to the Dashboard, the reported worldwide case report increased by 458,279 in the last 24 hours.  Deaths worldwide increased by 6,794.

According to the Johns Hopkins Dashboard, the United States has added 70,021 cases in the last 24 hours.  In that time,  the number of reported deaths from  COVID-19 increased by 1,174.

Cases in the US are increasing at the highest daily rate since August.

In Hawaii, the State Department of Health reports the state’s total count is now 14,233, with around 2,842 active cases.  The State’s daily case count increase is lower than during its peaks in August and September.

The state is counting 203 deaths. The Big Island has suffered 40 deaths from COVID-19.

Hawaii County has 1,091 total cases, with 247 active cases.
