Splashers Restaurant in Kailua Village is pau

Splasher’s Restaurant, in a prime location across from the Kailua Pier and King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel, is closing for good.   The popular restaurant has been in downtown Kailua Village–at first near the Banyan tree near Big Island Jewelers, and for years in their current location, for around 15 years.  Splashers was open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and was known for its excellent eggs benedict, among other things.

Owners Inde and Jerry Coggins posted an “aloha letter” on the restaurant’s web page:

Dear Friends,
Splashers will not be re-opening. We have fought a good fight, but it is time. The limitations of COVID have been an unsurmountable challenge paired with uncertainty, so it is time to turn the page. As we reflect on 15 years we are filled with pride and happiness. We have been privileged to be part of your Ohana, watching your children grow up, celebrating soccer wins and, father-daughter valentine dates, weddings, and crying with you during tough times. Thank you for the gift of letting us be part of this amazing community. What an incredible ride it has been. Jerry and I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to our team, they are the most courageous, talented hospitality professionals in the industry, and we are proud of each of them.
Mahalo for 15 years!
