State adds 122 new COVID; Big Isle adds 21

The State of Hawaii has confirmed 122 new COVID-19 cases today, the third day in a row there were 100 or more new cases (yesterday, 100, and Wednesday, 156).  The state’s new cumulative total is 15,691.

O’ahu has 87 new cases, there are 6 new cases on Maui Island and 6 in residents who are out of state, and there is one new case on each Kaua’i and Lanai.

Hawaii Island again added the second most cases, at 21.  The Big Island’s total is 1,375, with 67 people having required hospitalization and 48 people having died (though the State is only reporting 31 so far).  The active case number on the Big Island is 356.

Hilo Medical Center reports 5 people with COVID-19 in the hospital’s COVID-19 Unit, and 1 person with COVID-19 in the Intensive Care Unit, separated from other patients, and not on a ventilator.  Kona Community Hospital has 6 patients with COVID-19, with 2 in the ICU and one of those on a ventilator, and the other 4 in the hospital’s COVID-19 area.
