US at 9.8M COVID cases, 237K deaths–Hawaii cases grow

The Johns Hopkins COVID Dashboard for Sunday, November 8 at 5:24 a.m.:

Worldwide cases: 49,975,746      Worldwide deaths:  1,252,471

U.S. cases: 9,870,018   U.S. deaths:  237,154

According to the Dashboard, the reported worldwide case report increased by 479,437  in the last 24 hours.  Deaths worldwide increased by 6,883.

According to the Johns Hopkins Dashboard, the United States has added 122,743 cases in the last 24 hours.   In the last day,  the number of reported deaths from  COVID-19 increased by 976.

Cases are also increasing in the state, primarily on O’ahu but also on the Big Island.  There are 15,819 known cases of COVID-19 statewide, and on the Big Island, 1,386, with 356 active cases. The state is reporting 220 deaths.  The Big Island has lost 48 people to COVID-19.  On the Big Island, Mayor Kim and Hawaii County Civil Defense say the cases are mostly being spread by people getting together in groups without following distancing and mask-wearing guidelines.
