US tops 11 M COVID cases but positive vaccine news

The Johns Hopkins COVID Dashboard for Monday, November 16, at 5:25 a.m.:

Worldwide cases: 54,529,316      Worldwide deaths:  1,319,342

U.S. cases: 11,048,174   U.S. deaths:  246,255

According to the Dashboard, the reported worldwide case report increased by 446,140  in the last 24 hours.  Deaths worldwide increased by 5,675.

According to the Johns Hopkins Dashboard, the United States has added 134,130 cases in the last 24 hours.  This is the 11th day in a row the new cases have been greater than 100,000.   In the last day,  the number of reported deaths from  COVID-19 increased by 609.

The State of Hawaii did not release any COVID-19 information on Sunday but expects to provide an update today at noon.

In good news, this morning the drug maker Moderna announced that preliminary results of its Phase 3 clinical trials of a potential COVID-19 vaccine,  with 30,000 participants, show a 94.5% effective rate.
