State adds 76 cases–Big Island has 17 of those

Today the State Department of Health is reporting only 76 new cases of COVID-19.  However, these numbers reflect Thursday, Nov. 26, Thanksgiving Day, as the DOH now uses numbers two days after they are reported.  Thanksgiving is likely to be a low numbers day.  The state’s total count now of COVID-19 cases is 17,784.

O’ahu has 48 new cases.  Maui Island has 9 new cases, with 1 new case each on Kaua’i and in Hawaii residents out of state.  Moloka’i and Lana’i have zero new cases.

The Big Island has 17 new cases.  The island’s total is now 17,784.  In the past 14 days, there have been new cases on the island, with all considered still active, although there may be additional active cases.  Kailua-Kona (96740) has had the most new cases in the past 14 days, at 49.  Hilo (96720) has had 15 new cases in the past 14 days.   The DOH map indicates that all other districts on the island have had 10 or fewer new cases in the past 14 days.

The Big Island has had 49 deaths from COVID-19.  The State has confirmed 32 of the Big Island’s death as related to COVID-19.
