Local Keiki Entrepreneurs Celebrated This May Day

On February 1, 2021, the Haleki’i Farmer’s Market and Craft Fair launched a unique program that allowed keiki entrepreneurs the opportunity to sell their products at the weekly market.  A number of Big Island children sign to participate in the program. With the collaboration of local business owners, cultural art-infused guided workshops and on-site guidance, these ambitious children could be found manning their own booths while selling beauty aides, custom tech-art printing products, artisanal crafts, personalized home decor products, and specialized desserts to tourists and local shoppers weekly.  The program has become a highlight for farmer’s market visitors as well as the keiki vendors who plan to build upon their entrepreneurship skills.

To honor the success of the program, Haleki’i Market is celebrating its first annual “keiki day” on Saturday, May 1, 2021 on the Kona Grill House Grounds located at 81-951 Haleki’i Street in Kealakekua from 9am to 2pm.

The event will include:

  • Keiki Hula performances by Ke Kula ʻo ʻEhunuikaimalino and Hālau Kaʻeaikahelelani
  • Arts & crafts Stations
  • Free Hot-Dog Booth by Jonathan Dale Miller Foundation
  • Local artist vendor booths
  • Live Entertainment and Music
