Hawaiʻi County Water Board to Host Public Hearing to Discuss Potential New Rates

The County of Hawaiʻi Water Board will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, to consider adopting a new cost of Power Adjustment Clause, pursuant to Hawaiʻi Revised Statutes Chapter 54, Part 111, as amended.

The current power cost charge of $1. 71 per thousand gallons is under consideration for a possible increase to reflect increased power costs from all power sources. The proposed power cost charge will be at a rate of 1. 85. The approved rate will be effective the first day of the month after the establishment of the rate by the Water Board.

The hearing will be held via web conferencing and the public may view the meeting via live stream at https:// www.facebook.com/HawaiiDWS

Residents interested in providing oral testimony during the public hearing can do it via email at dws@hawaiidws.org.  Emails must include the resident’s  name, phone number, and email address.  They may be asked to register and their testimony will be included and recorded via the web conference application.  Emails must be received no later than 12 noon on Monday, May 24, 2o1.

Anyone wishing to provide written testimony can do so via email at dws@hawaiidws.org , or by fax at  (808) 961- 8657.  Hand written testimony can be submitted via U.S. mail to the following address:

Written testimony should be submitted no later than 12 noon on Monday, May 24, 2021, to be acknowledged at the public hearing. All written testimony, regardless of time of receipt, will be part of the permanent record.
