Department of Water Supply Announces Poster Contest Winners

The Hawaiʻi County Department of Water Supply (DWS) has selected top artworks from the nearly 150 posters Hawai‘i Island schoolchildren entered in the Department’s 3rd Annual Keiki Water Conservation Poster Contest.

Kindergarten to fifth grade public and private school students were invited to compete in the free contest promoting the theme “Do Your Part, Be Water Smart.”

Three DWS judges evaluated the posters based on originality, visual artistry, and depiction of the contest theme.  The top posters and other entries can be viewed at  www.hawaiidws.org.

A detailed list of the contest winners is listed below:

Kindergarten

1st Place: Emma Raras, Kea‘au Elementary School

2nd Place: Kili‘ohu Kelau, Kua O Ka Lā New Century Public Charter School

First Grade

1st Place: Tylee Rapozo, Waikoloa Elementary and Middle School

2nd Place: No entries received

Second Grade

1st Place: Meili O’Loughlin, Waikoloa Elementary and Middle School

2nd Place: Makana Kauhi, Chiefess Kapi‘olani Elementary

Third Grade

1st Place: Nevaeh Kaipo, Kaūmana Elementary School

2nd Place: Lindsey Gomez, Waiākea Elementary

Fourth Grade

1st Place: Reese Makaimoku, Kamehameha Schools Hawai‘i School

2nd Place: Callesta Ryan, Kanu o ka ‘Ǡina New Century Public Charter School

Fifth Grade

1st Place: Basil Au, St. Joseph Elementary

2nd Place: Fresalie Ramo,  Kea‘au Elementary
