Big Island Police Charge Keaʻau Man With Numerous Offenses

Hawai’i Island Police have charged a 51-year-old Kea‘au man with numerous offenses.

On the evening of Saturday, June 26, 2021, Puna Patrol Officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a residence on Oio Street in Pāhoa. Officers located a 37-year-old female victim who was not injured but reported being threatened by the 51-year-old male. Officers located and arrested the suspect on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at a residence on Paradise Drive in Kea‘au.

The suspect has been identified as 51-year-old Raphael Solis of Kea’au.

Detectives from the Area I Juvenile Aid Section continued the investigation and, after conferral with the Hawai’i County Prosecutor’s Office, charged Solis with Fourth Degree Criminal Property Damage, First Degree Burglary, First Degree Terroristic Threatening, Place to Keep Pistol or Revolvers, Carrying or Possessing a Loaded Firearm on Public Highway, Permit to Acquire and Mandatory Registration of a Firearm.  Solis is currently in police custody in lieu of $73,000 total bail. Solis’s first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, June 29, 2021, in Hilo District Court.
