Multiple Coast Guard air and surface crews with assistance from the Navy, Air Force, Civil Air Patrol, and local agencies are continuing their search for 67 year old Philip Grenz. Grenz, who was operating the 42-foot sailing vessel Epic, was last seen departing Nawiliwili Harbor in Kaua’i, heading toward Haleiwa, Oʻahu on Tuesday, August 31, 2021.
On Saturday, September 4, 2021, Sector Honolulu watch-standers received a report of a missing mariner who departed Nawiliwili Harbor and had not arrived at his next port of call in Haleiwa, Oʻahu. Sector Honolulu watch-standers issued an urgent marine information broadcast and launched Coast Guard rescue crews.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the sailing vessel Epic and/or Phillip Grenz is encouraged to contact the Coast Guard at 808-842-2600.
