Woman Pleads Not guilty to Trafficking Guam Teen and Her Mom

(AP) — A woman is pleading not guilty to charges accusing her of trafficking a 15-year-old girl and mother to Hawaiʻi from Guam. Pomerrine Robert was arraigned Thursday but a hearing for her husband, Kevin Robert, was postponed. Kevin Robert’s lawyer says his hearing was postponed because he needs a Chuukese interpreter. State Public Defender James Tabe, whose office is representing Pomerrine Robert, declined to comment on the case. Court documents say the couple allegedly took away their passports, forced them work and beat them. Court documents don’t specify the country of the passports.
