Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of April 18

The Department of Transportation has announced a number of lane closures throughout Hawaiʻi Island during the week of April 18, 2022.  Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  Below is a detailed list of scheduled roadwork and maintenance:

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 22 and 23, Old Volcano Road and Alii Kane Street, on Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching and grass cutting.

PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 52 and 56, Maile Street and Ninole Loop Road, on Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting and shoulder work.

KONA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 107 and 109, Rabbit Hill Road and Mamalahoa Highway, on Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for mulching and grass cutting.

HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

HAKALAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction near mile marker 13.8, near Kolekole Beach Park, through Friday, April 22, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for bridge repair work. 

HAKALAU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between  mile markers 13.8 to 15.4, Old Mamalahoa Highway and Hanamalo Loop, on Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for testing on and around Hakalau Bridge. 

HONOMU (24/7 RESTRICTION)

Kolekole Bridge at mile marker 14.27 on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) is weight restricted to 12 tons (24,000 lbs.) until further notice. The speed limit in the area is reduced to 25 mph. See https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/weight-limit-for-kolekole-bridge-now-12-tons/ for details.

PAAUILO

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 32 and 38, Ke Ehia Place and Kalopa Road, on Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for tree removal.

HONOKAA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 45 and 46, Kapuna Road and Homestead Road, on Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree trimming and shoulder work.

KAWAIHAE ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

WAIKOLOA

Single lane closure on Kawaihae Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 69 and 75, Hapuna Beach Road and Waikoloa Beach Drive, on Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for landscaping and shoulder work.

PAHOA-KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

PAHOA

Single lane closure on Pahoa-Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile markers 0.0 and 3, Hawaii Belt Road and Keaau-Pahoa Road, on Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for installation of new traffic signal indicators.

 

PAHOA

Single lane closure on Pahoa-Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction near mile marker 15.4, Alaili Road, on Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for pavement and guardrail improvements.

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 3.9 and 6.9, Saddle Road and Cross Island Road, on Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for shoulder widening, installation of rumble strips and other safety improvements.

KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

KAMUELA TO HAWI

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile markers 9 and 13, Kohala Mountain Road and Puuhue Road, on Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for landscaping and shoulder work.
