Yesterday, U.S. Army firefighters and partner first responders fought a wildfire on Pohakuloa range complex and training area. As of Friday afternoon, the blaze is reported to be 100% contained.
The fire began at approximately 7 am near training area 22 (West of the impact area) on Thursday, July 21.

The team of first responders involved in fighting the fire included
- 8 federal PTA firefighters
- 23 National Park fire fighters with several brush trucks
- Hawaii County off-road tanker with several firefighters
- UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter from the 25th Combat Aviation Brigade
An of Thursday evening, an estimated 600 acres have burned thus far and fire fighters were conducting back-burn operations to control the fireʻs spread.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
