Hawai‘i Island police are investigating the possible drowning of 63 year-old Dante Del Rosario of Kona that occurred along the 5700 block of Ali‘i Drive on Sunday, July 17.
Police responded to a report of a paddle boarder in distress while bystanders proceeded to pull Rosario from the water and administered CPR. He was then transported to Kona Community Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
A coroner’s inquest has been initiated and the investigation remains ongoing pending an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
