Hawai‘i Island police arrested and charged 58-year-old David Scott Paulino for two counts of abuse of a family household member, first degree sexual assault, and first degree terroristic threatening following a domestic incident in Hilo.
The charges against Paulino stem from a July 31, 2022 incident where he reportedly struck the female victim several times, strangulated her with his hands, sexually assaulted her, threatened her with a knife, and took her phone away while she attempted to call police.
After conferring with the County Prosecutors Office, detectives charged Paulino with two counts of abuse of a family household member, two counts of first degree sexual assault, first degree terroristic threatening, and interference with reporting an emergency or crime. His bail was set at $123,000.
Paulino remains in police custody pending his initial appearance in Hilo District Court scheduled for today.
