Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of August 29

The Department of Transportation has announced a number of lane closures throughout Hawaiʻi Island during the week of August 29, 2022.  Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  Below is a detailed list of scheduled roadwork and maintenance:
 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 65 and 67Kaalualu Road to vicinity of Ailani Orchards, on Monday, August 29through Friday, September 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass mowing/trimming.

CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 108 and 110, Government Main Road and Captain Cook Village Road, on Monday, August 29through Friday, September 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for shoulder stabilization and vegetation control.

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY/QUEEN KAAHUMANU HIGHWAY (ROUTE 19) 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway/Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 67 and 69.5, vicinity of Hapuna Beach Road and Waialea BayMonday, August 29, through Friday, September 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for vegetation cutting.

 

HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

HAKALAU (24/7 RESTRICTION)

Nanue Bridge at mile marker 14.27 on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) is weight restricted to 12 tons (24,000 lbs.) until further notice. See https://hidot.hawaii.gov/blog/2022/07/29/kolekole-bridge-weight-restriction-will-be-lifted-at-noon-friday-july-29/ for the latest update.

HAKALAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 14.2 and 14.3, vicinity of Kolekole Stream, on Saturday, August 27, through Friday, September 2, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., for bridge work.

HONOKAA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 44 and 46vicinity of Kapuna Road, on Monday, August 29, through Friday, September 2, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree mulching and mowing with side arm.

KALANIANAOLE AVENUE (ROUTE 19) 

KEAUKAHA (NIGHT WORK)

Single lane closure on Kalanianaole Avenue (Route 19) possible in either direction between Kamehameha Avenue and Kuhio Street, nightly from 7 p.m. Monday, August 29, through 5 a.m. Thursday, September 1, for the Kalanianaole Avenue Reconstruction. KEAAU-PAHOA ROAD/ PAHOA-KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130)

PAHOA

Single lane closure on Keaau-Pahoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile marker 8 and 10Ainaloa Drive and Niaulani StreetMonday, August 29through Friday, September 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for shoulder work and mechanical mowing.

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

 WAIKOLOA (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 9.7 and 12.2, vicinity of Waikoloa Road, for resurfacing. Work on Saturday, August 27, and Sunday, August 28, will be from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Work on Monday, August 29, through Friday, September 2, will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) 

HAWI

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction between mile markers 15 and 17, vicinity of Honoipu-Puuhue Road and Coast Guard Roadon Monday, August 29through Friday, September 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for landscaping maintenance, tree trimming, and shoulder work.
