Boy Scout Logan Kidani and Hāmākua Community Police Officer Joseph Rocha, recently conducted an Eagle Scout Beautification Project at the Laupāhoehoe Point Gym and Ookala Bus Stop.
Ten volunteers from across the Hāmākua district participated in the graffiti clean-up. At the gym, volunteers helped with sanding the wheel chair ramp railings and doors in preparation for painting over the graffiti and refreshing the paint on the doors and railings. At the Ookala Bus Stop, volunteers assisted with weed whacking, trash pick-up, sweeping, and wiping down the walls in preparation for a fresh coat of paint.
“We are very appreciative of the tremendous efforts from our volunteers who found value in supporting our community project,” said HPD Officer Rocha in a press release.
