The Department of Transportation has announced a number of lane closures throughout Hawaiʻi Island during the week of October 10, 2022. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. Below is a detailed list of scheduled roadwork and maintenance:
MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11)
HONUAPO
Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 57 and 59, vicinity of Whittington Beach Park, on Monday, Oct. 10, through Friday, Oct. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for landscaping and vegetation cutting.
KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11)
HONALO
Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile marker 113.9 and 114, vicinity of Honalo Road, on Monday, Oct. 10, through Friday, Oct. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the Kuakini Drainage Improvements.
HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19)
HONOMU TO HAKALAU
Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 11 and 16, vicinity of Old Mamalahoa Road/Airstrip Road and vicinity of Leopolino Road, Monday, Oct. 10, through Friday, Oct. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for vegetation cutting.
HAKALAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)
Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 14.2 and 14.3, vicinity of Kolekole Stream, on Saturday, Oct. 8, through Friday, Oct. 14, for bridge work. *Saturday and Sunday work will be from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. while Monday through Friday work will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
HAKALAU (24/7 RESTRICTION)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 28 and 31, vicinity of Stevens Road and vicinity of Niupea Homestead Road, Monday, Oct. 10, through Friday, Oct. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting and tree trimming.
KAWAIHAE ROAD (ROUTE 19)
