Wind Advisory and Fire Watch in Effect Through Friday

The National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory for North and South Kohala, Hamakua, and island interiors including Daniel K Inouye Highway and Kaʻū through Friday.
Sustained winds of 20 to 30 MPH with localized gusts up to 50 MPH are expected.  These winds this have the capacity to down trees, lift canopies, damage awnings, and make driving difficult and dangerous.  Downslope winds could become accelerated.
In addition, a Fire Weather Watch has been issued for the same areas beginning today through Friday.  Low humidity rates lead to critical fire weather conditions.  Outdoor burning is not recommended.
The community will be informed of any changes in status.
