Wanted Individuals Arrested During Crime Reduction Unit Operation

The Hawai’i County Police Department’s Area I Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) recently arrested and charged the following wanted individuals during a joint operation in East Hawai’i.
25-year-old Thomas Matthew Kamakanaololua Kaho’oilihala was charged with:

  • three warrants of arrest for violations of conditions of release on bail, recognizance, or supervised release
  • first-degree bail jumping
  • first-degree unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle (UCPV)
  • first-degree theft
  • habitual property crime

Kaho’oilihala’s bail for the above charges was set at $95,000. Additionally, various other property crime related charges against Kaho’oilihala have been forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office.
32-year-old Christen K. Lee was charged with:

  • first-degree unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle (UCPV)
  • first-degree theft
  • DWOL – while license suspended or revoked

Lee’s bail was set at $36,000.
24-year-old Chad Kaleo Chamberlin Jr. was charged with:

  • two-counts of probation violation – no bail
  • warrant of arrest for violations of conditions of release on bail, recognizance, or supervised release

Chamberlin’s bail was set at $25,000.
37-year-old Nicholas M. Cook was charged with:

  • probation violation – no bail
  • criminal contempt of court

Cook’s bail was set at $5,100.00
20-year-old Cherish Anela Torres had an outstanding BOLO stemming from a domestic-related incident which occurred on May 23, 2023. She was charged with:

  • second-degree assault
  • felony abuse family household member
  • second-degree terroristic threatening

Torres’ bail was set at $3,500.
In addition to the arrests of the individuals listed above, officers also recovered a stolen vehicle, and contacted numerous other individuals in relation to additional criminal cases currently under investigation.
