The Hawai‘i County Police Department is renewing their request for information regarding a July 2021 unsolved Puna murder.
On July 31, 2021, the body of 76-year-old Michael Rosenbaum was discovered by a local fisherman on the cliffs below the beach park at MacKenzie State Recreation Area in Puna.
Rosenbaum had been reported as a missing person on July 24, 2021. He was reportedly last seen alive on July 22, 2021, in Pāhoa town.
An autopsy later concluded that Rosenbaum died from a gunshot wound.
The Area I Criminal Investigation Section is continuing this investigation, which is classified as second-degree murder.
