Brush Fire at Pōhakuloa Training Area Continues

High winds continue to reinvigorate a brush fire off of Daniel K. Inouye Highway within the Pohakuloa Training Area that started on November 10.

As of 4pm last night, it is estimated that the fire, which was last last reported to be traveling westward towards Pu’u Kee Kee, consumed approximately 120 acres with 50% containment.

PTA and County firefighters are on scene to prevent fire from moving out of PTA. PTA Public Works bulldozers and water tank are creating fire breaks while Army helicopters are conducting bucket drops.

At this time there is no danger to the surrounding communities. No structures have been threatened and no roads are currently closed.
