The body of 73-year-old Dennis William Swain of Hilo was recently discovered in Hilo Harbor. On February 9, Hilo patrol officers along with Hawai‘i County Fire Department personnel responded to a report of a body floating face-down at the edge of the Hilo Pier. They located Swain’s lifeless body and pulled him from the water to the deck of the pier. He was then transported to Hilo Medical Center and officially pronounced dead Although the investigation is currently classified as a coroner’s inquest, police do not suspect foul play at this time. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
