Three Arrested for Illegal Cockfighting in Hawaiian Paradise Park

A woman and two men were arrested in connection with illegal cockfighting in the Hawaiian Paradise Park Subdivision.

On May 18 members of the Hawaiʻi County Police Department along Homeland Security Task Force Officers, executed a search warrant on a Keaau residence where over 100 people were in attendance at a cockfight.

During the search of the residence and property, police recovered 25 dead birds, 4 injured birds, cock fighting paraphernalia, to include gambling records, and a small amount of marijuana.  Taskforce Officers from Homeland Security also seized approximately $20,000 in in US currency.

The following individuals were released pending further investigation:

49 year-old Lehualani K. Kaleiwahea of Hilo was arrested for:

  • Twenty-nine (29) counts of second-degree Cruelty to Animals
  • One count of first-degree Promoting Gambling
  • One count of first-degree Possession of Gambling Records
  • One count of second-degree Promoting Gambling

28 year old Isaac Dylan H. Ragasa-Kaleiwahea of Keaau was arrested for:

  • 29 counts of second-degree Cruelty to Animals
  • One count of first-degree Promoting Gambling
  • One count of first-degree Possession of Gambling Records
  • One count of second-degree Promoting Gambling

37 year-old Domonick Uchima of Keaau was arrested for:

  • One count of second-degree Promoting Gambling
