The Hawaiʻi County Department of Environmental Management will begin fencing improvements at the Hilo Transfer Station on April 28.
The project includes the installation of approximately 600 linear feet of new chain link fencing and multiple double-swinging gates with locking latches. Most of the work will take place in the area of the cardboard recycling bins.
The improvements will enhance site security and support better traffic flow. The project will cost $126,000 and construction is expected to take about 60 days to complete.
The Hilo Transfer Station will remain open during construction.
