Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense is hosting a summit meeting for amateur radio operators to discuss ways to strengthen the community in the face of potential hazards on June 12.
The “Keanakolu Summit”, which is scheduled to take place at Aunty Sally Kaleohano’s Luau Hale in Hilo from 8am to 2pm, will provide information, networking opportunities, and a platform to enhance the Civil Defense Auxiliary Communications Service.
Governor Green declared June 2025 as Amateur Radio Month throughout Hawaiʻi, aligning with the start of the hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to November 30. Mayor Alameda has also proclaimed June as Amateur Radio Month in the County of Hawaiʻi, reinforcing this important initiative locally across the island.
The deadline to RSVP at 808-935-0031 or civildefense@hawaiicounty.org is June 9.
