National Weather Service Issues Coastal Flood Statement for Hawaiʻi Island

The National Weather Service issued a Coastal Flood Statement for Hawaiʻi Island through Thursday afternoon.

Peak monthly high tides combined with water levels that are running higher than normal may lead to minor flooding along the shoreline and in low-lying coastal areas.

Coastal flooding is expected around the peak high tide each afternoon.

Residents living near shorelines should avoid driving through flooded roadways, move electronics, vehicles or other valuables to higher ground and secure canoes and watercraft stowed on beaches.
