Police Seeking Suspects in Kona Weapons Incident

Hawai‘i Island police are requesting the public assistance in identifying suspects involved in a weapons incident near Kailua Pier  in Kailua-Kona.

Two male victims reported that they were confronted by two younger males accompanied by a young female near the pier on the evening of July 28. During the confrontation, one of the male suspects brandished an unidentified type of firearm and discharged three rounds in the direction of the victims. There were no other people in the vicinity of where the shots were fired. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The suspects and the female then fled the area east on Palani Road in a newer model white SUV, possibly a Honda CR-V or similar vehicle.

The male suspects are described as being in their late teens to early 20s, both approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, with thin builds and light complexions. The young woman with them is described as being in her late teens to early 20s, between 5 feet to 2 inches to 5 feet 3 inches tall, with a skinny build and light complexion.
