Hawaiʻi Lawmakers Introduce Resolution Recognizing Significance of Mauna Loa Observatory

U.S. Senator Mazie K. Hirono (D-HI) and U.S. Representatives Jill Tokuda (D-HI) and Ed Case (D-HI) introduced a resolution recognizing the history and important contributions of the Mauna Loa Observatory. The resolution also commemorates the 69th anniversary of the observatory and honors the cultural significance of Mauna Loa itself to the Native Hawaiian community.

The Hawaiʻi lawmakers introduced the resolution after the Trump Administration announced its plans to cancel the lease for several National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) facilities earlier this year.

The full text of the resolution is available here.
