Coast Guard, Partners Search for Man in Water off Kauaʻi

The Coast Guard and partner agencies are searching for 37 year-old Kyle Barrett in the water offshore Kauai .

Barrett, who is described as 6 feet, 4 inches tall, approximately 210 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair, was last seen Tuesday evening near the entrance to the Queen’s Bath trailhead.

Barrett is  He was last seen wearing a white shirt, dark shorts and sunglasses.

Coast Guard Sector Honolulu command center watchstanders received a notification at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday from Kauai Fire Department personnel of a possible person in the water near Princeville, Kauai.

Watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Station Kauai 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew, an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and an HC-130 Hercules airplane crew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point. The Coast Guard Cutter William Hart (WPC 1134) crew also launched for the search.

Coast Guard teams have so far searched for a combined 11 hours and covered approximately 1,670 square miles.

  • Coast Guard Cutter William Hart (WPC 1134)
  • Kauai Fire Department
  • Kauai Police Department
