Police Investigating Honoka‘a Pedestrian Fatality

A male pedestrian recently died in a motor vehicle collision near the 43.5-mile marker on Highway 19 in Honoka‘a.

On October 19, police were responding to a report of a traffic hazard when they witnessed the aftermath of the collision. Although life-saving efforts were made, the man was eventually pronounced dead.

An autopsy is pending, and the identity of the man is being withheld.  According to police, the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and was not in a marked crosswalk

The driver was not injured.

Speed, alcohol, and drugs are not believed to be factors.
