Several facilities at Kamehameha Park in Kapa‘au, including the gym, community center and swimming pool closed yesterday following a water main break.
The water main break left some park facilities without water and also damaged a parking area and roadway.
Portions of Kamehameha Park closer to the park entrance, such as the playground and Shiro Takata Field, remain open and accessible.
The County of Hawaiʻi Department of Parks and Recreation is working with the Department of Water Supply and the Department of Public Works to make the repairs necessary to reopen park facilities.
