Ocean View Woman Charged for Assault Following Firearms Incident

49-year-old Chante Livingston of Ocean View was arrested and charged after allegedly firing a rifle-style pellet gun at a 63-year-old man, striking him in the abdomen.

The incident began when the man heard gunshots while walking past her residence and believed his dog may have been hit. The victim was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Police later executed a search warrant and recovered two pellet guns.

Livingston is charged with first- and second-degree assault, with bail set at $15,000.

Her initial court appearance is scheduled for today in Kona District Court.

The victim’s dog, which is described as a blond German Shepherd-type “poi” dog weighing approximately 35 pounds, reportedly fled the area and has not yet been located.
