Hawai‘i Island police identified the man killed in a single-vehicle collision involving an ATV in Honoka‘a as 41-year-old Kasey Hui-Ahsam of Honoka’a.
According to investigators, Hui-Ahsam was operating a Honda four-wheel all-terrain vehicle while towing a trailer when he lost control. He was ejected as the ATV overturned and pinned him beneath the vehicle.
Fire and medical personnel determined Hui-Ahsam was beyond life-saving measures and pronounced him dead.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
At this time, speed, alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to be factors in this collision.
