The National Weather Service has issued a High Surf Advisory for the North and East Facing Shores of the North Kohala, Hamakua, North Hilo, South Hilo, Puna, and Ka`u Districts of Hawaii Island through Tuesday morning.
A High Surf Advisory means surf will be higher than normal. Strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous.
Beach-goers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution when entering the water.
