The Hawai‘i County Department of Water Supply has downgraded the Water Restriction Notice to a Water Conservation Notice for customers from Āhualoa to the Waiemi subdivision, including Waimea town.
Residents in these areas are asked to reduce water use by at least 10%. Recent rainfall has refilled the Waikoloa Reservoirs enough to allow this downgrade, but the Waimea Well remains offline and under repair, so conservation is still necessary.
This change does not affect nearby communities such as Kawaihae, Puakō, Mauna Lani, Hapuna, or Mauna Kea Resort, which remain under a stricter Water Restriction Notice because they are on a different water system.
