The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of March 30, 2026. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting. In observance of Good Friday, April 3 there will be no contraflow or lane closures unless otherwise permitted.
KAMEHAMEHA AVENUE/VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11)
HILO TO VOLCANO
Single lane closure on Kamehameha Avenue to Volcano Road (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 36, in the vicinity of Banyan Drive, on Monday, March 30 to Thursday, April 2 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and pavement markers.
VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11)

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 16 to 20, in the vicinity of North Peck Road and North Glenwood, on Monday, March 30 to Thursday, April 2 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mechanical mowing.
MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 88 to 90, in the vicinity of Old Mamalahoa Highway and Yee Hop Ranch Road, on Monday, March 30 to Thursday, April 2 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tree trimming and mechanical mowing.
KAAWALOA TO HOLUALOA
Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 109 to 118, in the vicinity of Koa Road and Judd Trail, on Monday, March 30 to Thursday, April 2 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and installing new striping and pavement markers.

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 114 to 115, in the vicinity of West Honalo Road and Puuloa Road, on Monday, March 30 to Thursday, April 2 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mechanical mowing and cutting the grass.
