(UPDATED) The U.S. Army announced PTA training on Hawaiʻi Island will increase through the end of March 2021 into April.
With more than 2,000 troops on base, military training will consist of artillery and mortar live fire, small arms marksmanship, aviation gunnery and unmanned aerial systems.
Local residents can expect to see, and/or hear, military aircraft during training.
The following convoys are scheduled for March: ·
March 12-23 – departing from PTA to Kawaihae from 8:30 a.m to 2 p.m. daily.
There will be multiple convoys during this period with staggered departure times to avoid congestion. Military convoy leaders will pull over along safe, straight portions of the roadways to allow motorists to pass safely and alleviate congestion.
March 14,2021 – departing from PTA to Kawaihae from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
All service members training at PTA are prohibited from leaving the base, unless authorized by Lt. Colonel Borce, Commander of PTA.
