On Sunday, a 35 year-old male was was found on a rock ledge of a pond beneath Rainbow Falls. The male fell onto rock outcropping and then into the pond after attempting to climb down a cliff wall next to the falls.
HFD rescue personnel via Chopper 1 extracted him off of the rock ledge using a billy pugh net. He was transferred to an awaiting medic unit and transported to Hilo Medical Center Emergency Room.
