Puna Woman Arrested and Charged in Custodial Interference Case

Hawaiʻi Island police arrested and charged 35-year-old Shereenmarie Dalao Godoy of Mountain View, who was wanted in a custodial interference investigation.
On September 23, Dalao Godoy was arrested without incident and charged with two counts of second-degree custodial interference.

The charges stem from a runaway investigation where two female juveniles age 17 and 11 left their foster home without permission and walked to a Keaʻau convenience store where the older juvenile asked a stranger to use their phone to call Dalao Godoy, who is her non-custodial biological mother. The older juvenile then asked the stranger for a ride to Dalao Godoy’s Mountain View residence. Dalao Godoy then drove both girls to Hilo where the younger juvenile was dropped off down the street from a relative’s residence. The relative immediately called police and she was safely placed back into foster care.

Dalao Godoy was released after posting $1,000 bail. Her initial Hilo District court appearance is scheduled for October 24.
