Last week, Kona Patrol Officers responded to a report of a device resembling an unexploded grenade in the 75-5700 block of Aliʻi Drive.
Upon arrival, officers promptly established a perimeter and restricted access to the area to protect public safety.
The Hawai‘i County Police Department’s Special Response Team was notified, and a Bomb Technician was dispatched to the scene. After a thorough assessment, the technician determined that the grenade was inert. The device was then safely removed from the area for subsequent disposal.
