Police Identify Remains of Second Women Found in Downed Hilo Banyan Tree

Hawai’i Island police identified the second female whose remains were recovered from within the debris of a downed banyan tree Hilo this summer.

The remains of 48-year-old Michelle Katrina Noelani Comer, of Keaau. were positively identified by DNA comparison.

The other victim was previously identified as 35-year-old Trisha Almazan, of Keaau.

During autopsies performed on both women In July, the forensic pathologist ruled the cause of death for both victims as mechanical asphyxiation and the manner of death accidental.
