39-year-old Isaac Kamali‘i of Puna was charged with multiple offenses following his arrest in connection with a stolen vehicle investigation and the execution of a search warrant at a Pāhoa residence.
The charges include:
- First-degree theft
- Unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle
- First-degree terroristic threatening
- Two counts of driving without a valid license
The incident began on October 16 when officers located a stolen vehicle at a residence on Aloha Drive. Kamali‘i, known to be armed and dangerous, was seen near the vehicle. Police called in the Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiation Team.
After several hours, Kamali‘i exited the home and was arrested without incident. The stolen vehicle was confirmed to have been taken from Gardenia Avenue on October 14.
Aloha Drive was temporarily closed during the operation for safety.
The investigation is ongoing.
