The Hawai‘i County Department of Water Supply has issued an immediate Water Restriction Notice for customers in Honomū Village, including those along Honomū Road, Māmalahoa Highway (HWY 19), and all connected side roads and lanes.
Customers are required to reduce water use by at least 25% due to an unexpected breakdown of the Honomū well.
DWS is currently hauling water to maintain supply and working on emergency repairs to restore the well.
Customers are urged to conserve water by washing only full loads, checking for leaks, avoiding running taps unnecessarily, and shortening showers.
