Island Conversations #43 –PTA helps Hawaii Island Food Basket

Pohakuloa Training Area just trained 1500 troops–and their leftover food, 2500 pounds of it, is being donated to the Hawaii Island Food Basket.  This short interview with Gregory R. Fleming, Deputy Garrison Commander, gives the details.  The photo is Adam Scharf, PTA’s Recycling Guru (probably not his official title), with just some of the food that will be donated.    We’ll do a future interview about ALL the recycling and repurposing that goes on at PTA, which diverts 60% of what they use from the landfill (vs 10% for Hawaii County, per Prosecutor Mitch Roth). Air Date:  Nov. 21, 2019
