The Hawaii State Department of Health reports that for the second day in a row, Hawaii has added 3 cases to the total COVID-19 count. However, it also said, because of updated testing information, one case was removed from the state’s total count. That number is 649.
Hawaii has had 17 deaths. Lt. Gov. Josh Green, M.D. says the state has the lowest mortality rate in the nation. He’s encouraging Gov. Ige to reopen interisland travel, given the low viral count in the state, in order to help the economy begin to get back to normal. Gov. Ige said on Thursday that he does plan to loosen the interisland quarantine and plans to make an announcement soon, but will extend the out-of-island travel quarantine beyond June 30–that announcement has not yet been formally made.
O’ahu shows 419 cases, two more than yesterday. Hawaii Island has 82 cumulative cases, all of whom have recovered. Maui has 118 with 107 released from isolation, and Kaua’i has 20 cumulative cases and no new for 6 weeks.
